A lot tends to happen in the summer months in the world of Erasmus Mundus. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees are high-quality integrated programmes of study offered by a consortium of higher education institutions and, where relevant, other partners with specific expertise and interest in the area of study. They offer EU-funded scholarships to students and guest academics.

1300 new scholarships

In May, over 1300 students received the good news that they had been selected for an EU-funded scholarship to take part in an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree programme starting in September 2017.

Scholarships are available to students from all over the world, though at least 75% are reserved for students from outside the 33 European Programme Countries that make up Erasmus+. This year scholarships have been awarded to students from all 6 continents with the top 5 countries being Brazil (79), India (63), Iran (59), Bangladesh (58) and Mexico (49).

38 new Master programmes

The Commission announced the selection of 38 new Erasmus Mundus programmes, out of 122 consortia which applied for Erasmus Mundus status. The new programmes involve 186 partner universities and almost 600 associate organisations from 84 different countries, covering areas from chemical nano-engineering to documentary film-making, and from social work with families to tropical forestry.
