NProgramme SCOPES

Research partnerships with Eastern Europe

The SCOPES programme of the SNSF and the SDC is aimed at research groups and institutions in Switzerland and Eastern Europe who would like to launch a research co-operation.

The SCOPES (Scientific Cooperation between Eastern Europe and Switzerland) programme will be discontinued at the end of the current programme phase (SCOPES 2013-2016). Other opportunities for collaboration with Eastern European research partners will be offered; however, the details have not yet been determined.

Details

SCOPES comprises the following funding schemes:

Joint Research Projects (JRPs)

Joint research projects enable researchers in Switzerland and researchers in Eastern European partner countries to jointly conduct innovative research projects on specific topics in all areas of basic research.

Institutional Partnerships (IPs)

Institutional partnerships contribute to the development and modernisation of institutional aspects of research and teaching in Eastern Europe and the CIS. IPs do not involve any research projects.

Preparatory Grants (PGs)

Preparatory grants facilitate the development of proposals for JRPs and IPs. In addition, researchers from Eastern Europe and from Switzerland receive a grant to cover the costs of a meeting for the purpose of preparing and drafting a JRP or an IP proposal.

Valorisation Grants (VGs)

The aim behind valorisation grants is to increase the efficacy and sustainability of research results gained in JRPs and IPs.

Conference Grants (CGs)

Conference grants serve to cover the travel, room and board costs of researchers from Eastern European partner countries who participate in international scientific conferences in Switzerland.
